Day of Remembrance Program 2007

On Saturday, February 17, the Day of Remembrance Program was held at the Tri- State/Denver Buddhist Church. The event was well attended by approximately 200 people. The program began with a movie by Don Dexter, Camp Amache:

An American Tragedy. Stories of Amache were told by Justin and Michelle Akiyama, Alyssa Noguchi, Kelly Nagai, Nicolai Hiraoka, Kikue Hardman, and Brian Tanigawa.

John Hopper and his students from Granada High School were introduced and their display was in the gym. Also on display in the gym was the Chibi no Gakko with their Japanese American heritage projects, the Colorado Quilt Project and photos from past Japanese American Community Graduation Program recipients. After the program, refreshments were served in the gym by the Buddhist Women's Association. It was a memorable day and nice to see all the people coming out for this event. Most of all, it is always a good time for people to reconnect with all their friends.
