U.S. National Park Service Meeting
Monday, October 15, 2007, 1:30 and 6:30 pm
Tri-State/Denver Buddhist Temple, 1947 Lawrence Street, Denver
Meeting is to seek public comments to determine
the criteria that will guide the federal program to conserve and maintain
WWII-era Japanese American Confinement sites
For details, contact Kara Miyagishima, 303-969-2885
The grant program will provide financial assistance to those protecting numerous confinement sites where the forced
relocation of more than 110,000 men, women and children, most of whom were American citizens of Japanese ancestry,
occurred in 1942. Congress authorized the grant program in 2006. Appropriations for the grant program are pending but it is expected soon.
The NPS seeks public comments to develop grant criteria to help assure that proposals will be objectively reviewed
and funds address the most compelling and important issues.
For information about the newly authorized grant program, visit www.parkplanning.nps.gov/imro and click on Grant
Program for Preservation of Japanese American World War II Confinement sites.
If you cannot attend one of the meetings, but would like to provide comments on the grant program, please submit
them on-line at the website listed above or contact Kara Miyagishima.
Submit comments no later than Friday, November 2, 2007.
